I have started reading a lot of information about Google and their SEO guru Matt Cutts. You can follow his blog here: Matt Cutts Blog, and I also found a short video about Twitter affecting SEO, here: Twitter affecting SEO, and in that video, Matt Cutts admits how SEO is constantly evolving, even says 'those are two things that have changed since the last time I answered that question' so, it's really volatile. Thought I would pass these on to you, and also let you know a couple of other things I learned over the past week or so about SEO.

1. Keywords, which are industry buzz words and things you think people will type into the search engines to find your site, you now not only need those in the keywords tag, those words need to be in the content on the page that has that keyword tag.
2. You need to change the title tags of pages from 'MySite - About' to 'About MySite - How to build widgets from scratch with a foo widget (or something short - related to the content on that page). and do that to every page, add to the title tag.
3. Links to site - (possibly create a blog, and update it once a week with a short article about something industry related that you read about that would be interesting to others in the industry). You can do this through a blog and through social media sites (fb, twitter, etc.).
4. Create a couple of pages that are not in the main navigation (maybe link from a word on a page, that are specifically related to your business (maybe you or someone who works in the field for your company can write some content for these). It could be stories about things they ran into while at a conference (some antecdote about a a famous person they met, or a restaraunt they ate at, I am just throwing out ideas) but stories that others may find interesting. Or, it could be top five industry trends and update it once a month or once every three months.
5. Create a short description of each page on the site and add it to the meta description tag. This description will go with each page and will show up after the link to the page on Google.

I just wanted to throw these ideas out there so you can start thinking about them and let me know if/how/when you would like to implement them.

Race to win the planet, a great idea. The following is from their home page:

"A race to Win the Planet" will be a very simple web-based game combining the "Farmville" phenomenon with real-life rewards.  You will compete against other players for the chance to win a one week all-expenses paid trip to a project location (eg. digging a water well in an African village).  The winner will get to enjoy living and working with project volunteers and feel on their own the positive impact that is created.

And people will not only be racing, but also doing philanthropy! Half of the race-entry ticket is donated to the project offering the prize.
